Eurochocolate... Italian? No, Swiss!
Lugano has been chosen as the city that will host the first Swiss edition of Eurochocolate from 26 through 29 March 2009.
The most important chocolate festival in Italy, and the most well-known in Europe, now arrives in Switzerland, where the food of the gods is not just a fundamental element of the national tradition, but it has always been considered, in Ticino also, one of the best-known symbols of Swissness in the world.
With a per capita average consumption of 12.3 kilograms, the Swiss are the world’s biggest consumers of chocolate. It could not be otherwise, if we consider that the top product of the national confectionery industry, with a production of approximately 180,000 tons per year, is chocolate.
The event will be organized in a partnership with the Eurochocolate staff and the Isicom SA agency of Lugano, with the sponsorship of the City of Lugano, Lugano Turismo, GastroTicino, Hôtelleriesuisse Ticino, and the Accademia Italiana della Cucina, and will follow the consolidated format that characterizes every edition of Eurochocolate, which began 15 years ago in Perugia.
Exhibits, educational workshops for adults, youngsters, and children, guided tastings, shows, and enjoyable entertainment will accompany the Chocolate Show, the big, sweet bazaar where Swiss chocolate will be the undisputed protagonist, with a significant focus on local production.
